Christopher Rico has exhibited his work in NYC, New Orleans, Atlanta, Los Angeles and abroad. He will have his first exhibition in Mexico City in the fall of 2024.

Painting in a gesture-forward style, Rico’s abstract work invites the viewer into situations and environments rich with association and emotion. Utilizing oversized calligraphy brushes, the marks convey a sense of motion long after the paint has dried.

Rico’s work can be found in public and private collections nationally. He has exhibited in the Spartanburg Museum of Art as well as several institutional galleries across South Carolina.

A “native of nowhere,” Rico grew up on military bases across the United States. He received his graduate degree from Clemson University and his undergraduate from University of Memphis. He has resided in Greenville since 2018.
